In it's day the Compaq Armada M700 was a top of the range
machine, it's PC WorldBench 2000 score of 170, and impressive
battery life drew gasps and praise from tech heads and computer
boffins far and wide. Now compared to the dazzling speed of
notebooks fitted with Pentium 4, and centrino processors, the
M700 may seem a little shabby. However if you just want a
notebook for checking email, word processing, moderate graphics
editing and computing tasks, this machine could be a nice
choice. What do you get for under 500 dollars? A 20GB hard drive, 14.1 inch display, a 700 MHz pentium III processor, 56K modem, and Windows 2000 operating system. The M700 is lighter than it's brother of the Armada series, Compaq's Armada E500. You may be interested to learn that some equipment such as batteries, cd rewriters, and 2nd hard drives are interchangeable and can be shared between these two notebooks. Please note, by the time you read this review (written July 2004) you may find that this deal has long gone, but not to worry.
